Screenwriter Kim Eun Sook’s 12% vs. Park Ji Eun’s 17%

Kim Eun Sook and Park Ji Eun, famous screenwriters of the industry, are going through a heated competition. Recognized for their previous works of “Descendants of the Sun” and “My Love From the Star”, both of the authors work in Studio Dragon. Currently, “Goblin” and “The Legend of the Sea” are heating up the K-Drama scene, as the year of 2016 comes to an end.

“Goblin” 12% vs. “The Legend of the Blue Sea” 17%




Kim Eun Sook’s “Goblin” recorded 12.344% in ratings for its eighth episode, on December 24th. Although it is not relevant to compare the figure with the 38.8% of “Descendants of the Sun”, “Goblin” is still recording high in ratings despite the fact that it is being broadcasted on a cable channel.

Park Ji Eun’s “The Lengend of the Blue Sea” is recording the highest rating among the dramas that are being broadcasted at the same time. Episode 12, which was broadcasted on December 22nd, recorded 17.3%. However, it seems difficult for the drama to reach 28.1%, which is the figure that “My Love From the Star” recorded.

A Party Full of Characters vs. A Party of Jun Ji Hyun & Lee Min Ho

In “Goblin”, a lot of characters are getting the spotlight. From the goblin (Gong Yoo) to the goblin bride (Kim Go Eun), the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook), Yoo In Na, Yook Sung Jae and Lee El, all of the characters are being highlighted, regardless of the importance of their roles.

On the other hand, “The Legend of the Blue Sea” is focusing more on the roles of the main protagonists. Lee Hee Joon, Shin Won Ho, Lee Ji Hoon and Shin Hye Sun are not getting the spotlight as much as Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun. Some fans say that the roles between the main characters and the supporting characters are not being balanced.
