From ‘Train to Busan’ to ‘Goblin’, ‘Gong Yoo Syndrome’ also Hits Japan
Actor Gong Yoo seemingly has high popularity in Japan. Though previously he’s quite well known in other countries, his popularity rises even higher after starring in ‘Goblin’ and ‘Train to Busan’.
‘Goblin’ which receives highest viewer rating will start airing in Japan on February 28th, followed by regular airtime from March 17th. On July, a Japanese adaptation of ‘Train to Busan’, ‘Shinkasen: Final Express’, will hit theaters.
‘Train to Busan’ tells the fight of people who ride the KTX train to Busan in order to survive from zombie virus. This film successfully achieved 11 million viewers in Korea and starts to air in other countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hongkong, Philippines, Taiwan, and Malaysia. The film got first place in Korean box office, which then attracts international viewers.
Meanwhile, Gong Yoo is currently spending his time off by doing commercial shootings. Not only that, he has received hundreds of advertisement offerings from China, South East Asia, and other countries around the world. According to his agency, Gong Yoo is going to be busy with commercial shootings until next March.
