Even After 1 Month, Gong Yoo’s ‘Goblin’ After-effect is Still Here
Though the latest episode of ‘Goblin’ has finished more than a month ago, fans are still unable to move on. The OSTs are still sitting on top positions of various music charts, various variety shows and other programs are still doing parodies of ‘Goblin’, and actors, actress, TV, and radio keep talking about ‘Goblin’.
After ‘Goblin’ ended, SBS aired Gong Yoo’s movie ‘The Suspect’ during the new year (chuseok) holiday and scored 5,2% rating, the second highest rating among other shows in the same slot. Not only that, according to his agency, all of Gong Yoo’s previous movies (such as ‘The Suspect’, ‘A Man and A Woman’, ‘Train to Busan’, and ‘BIG’) are sold out.
Gong Yoo also seizes first position for Best Movie Stars’ Reputation for two consecutive months, as announced by Korean Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade. In addition, variety shows such as Yoo Jae Suk’s ‘Infinity Challenge’, Cha Tae Hyun’s ‘2 Days 1 Night’, and Jun Hyun Moo – Park Myung Soo’s ‘Happy Together’ actively parodied the drama to incite laughter from audience.
From its OST to its actors, ‘Goblin’ is still mentioned everywhere. Though the drama has ended, the after-effect seems like it won’t be ending anytime soon.
