‘Ruler: Master of the Mask’: Yoo Seung Ho and L Exchange Their Lives
In the episode of MBC’s ‘Ruler – Master of tha Mask’ which was aired on May 24, Yoo Seung Ho and L (Kim Myung Soo) exhange their lives.
In this episode, Lee Seon (L) has become the puppet King of Joseon, while Prince Seon (Yoo Seung Ho) who survived being buried alive. Previously, the Prince was pushed off a cliff by one of Daemok’s people. Hwa Goon (Yoon So Hee), who saw the Prince dying yet alive, gave the crown prince a potion to lessen his pulse so that Daemok would think that the Prince has died. At the end, Daemok told his people to bury the Prince’s corpse.
The Prince’s life was then saved by Chung Woon, his bodyguard. Prince Seon got his consciousness back after receiving treatment from Woo Bo. Knowing about the fate that has fallen upon the Joseon Kingdom, Prince Seon weeped and said, “For Lee Seon, who is acting as a puppet king in my place, I will save Joseon with my own hands.”
Then, Prince Seon follows Woo Bo’s advice to gain the trust of merchants, who own the best information and distribution network in Joseon. Five years later, Prince Seon had risen to be the leader of merchants.
On the other hand, after seeing Lee Seon who is shaking with fear and panic at the sight of the Crown Prince’s lifeless body, Daemok puts a mask on Lee Seon, telling him that he’ll be a doll if he wants to stay alive. Then, he said, “You are king of Joseon as long as you wear a mask.”
Wearing a mask, Lee Seon goes to the palace, accepts the seal of work and starts his role as a puppet king. Though he is wearing a mask, the Queen knows that the one behind the mask is not Prince Seon, but another person altogether.
At the end of the episode, Prince Seon witnessed the crisis situation that Han Ga Eun (Kim So Hyun) was experiencing and went on his way to save the girl.
