Idols Who Were Agitated by Sasaeng Fans
Recently, leader of idol group Super Junior complained about how his sasaeng fans discovered his phone number and kept calling or sending messages, which made the idol upset. This is not the first time idols have complained about the behavior of their sasaeng fans.
This is the second time that Leeteuk had publicly complained about fans discovering his phone number. The same incident also happened to him in 2012. Leeteuk said that he’s not surprised anymore, but what the fans did with his phone number extremely annoyed him.
Sasaeng fans is a term given to call fanatic fans who are always following their idols everywhere and always looking up to their idols’ private matters or activities, be it during the day or at night. Though sasaeng fans are something that is not unusual in Korean entertainment industry, their behavior can sometimes be borderline criminal.
Last year in September, member of BIGBANG, TOP, warned his sasaeng fans through his social media account. TOP’s sasaeng fans had been following him and even came to his family’s house. “To my Chinese fans, please do not come to my house. I felt afraid all night long. I’ve been patient about this. I’ve reported this to the police.”
Girls Generation’s Taeyeon and SHINee’s Key had also experienced the same thing. Last year, in his social media, Key wrote, “These days I’ve been disturbed by too many messages and phonecalls which makes me lost my patience.” Taeyeon went further by posting a screenshot of sasaeng fans who called her nonstop at night and wrote “This is not healthy for both parties.”
Last September, GOT7 Jackson strongly warned fans not to follow him after an incident happened to fans who had been trailing him everywhere in China. Though it was not a serious accident, the behavior of sasaeng fans who sometimes do not obey the traffic rules is something that is really inappropriate.
