YG Entertainment Explains About G-Dragon’s Red USB Album Concept

YG explains the intended concept of using a red paint that fades easily in G-Dragon’s USB album, ‘Kwon Ji Yong’. Apparently, the red color is used to express the color of ‘blood’ (DNA) and ‘womb’.

Previously, many people did not know that the reddish ink was deliberate. They write critics in the online media: “The red ink is stuck in the hands”, “This stuff doesn’t have a good quality”, and much more. However, when looking more closely at the USB photo albums released on music sites, the public can easily notice that the colors are blurry and there are many scratches.

YG explains that before the sale of the USB album, they’ve written that the ink can fade and on the USB it will have a lot of scratches, because the concept that G-Dragon wants is to compare the USB to a newborn. Newborns are always filled with red blood, but the blood will go away after cleansing. Therefore, the red ink on the USB album ‘Kwon Ji Yong’ easily faded, and on the body is a handwritten details of the birth of G-Dragon by his mother.

Unlike mass-produced prints at the factory, GD wants to realize its concept on the USB exterior by creating reddish stains and vintage scratches. Upon hearing his wishes, YG concludes that the red color must be hand-painted to match G-Dragon’s desire. This is the reason why YG says that it has suffered a lot of difficulty in producing and supplying USB albums.

Then, this concept is also not just to sell music on the USB, because in the USB there is a link that can be accessed by fans. The link contains more content, and later the content will be constantly updated, such as MV making movie, and more. Plus, the USB album ‘Kwon Ji Yong’ can also be used to store various content according to the wishes of the owner.
