What Makes ‘Night Life’ Fail?
With no apparent plot twist, ‘Night Life’ got poor rating until the latest episode.
‘Night Light’ first premiered on November 21st. The drama, which featured Jin Goo, Lee Yo Won, and UEE, actually started quite well and scored 6,6% rating.
However, ‘Night Life”s repetitive plot makes viewers lost interest and left the drama altogether. Compared to ‘Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim’, which attracted a lot of sympathy because of its kind protagonist, ‘Night Life’, which is filled with characters who are thirsty for money and power, failed to gain drama viewers’ favor.
Not only the antagonist and greedy characterization of Seo Yi Kyung (Lee Yo Won) was hard to understand, the drama also lost its momentum to emphasize the ‘womance’ between Seo Yi Kyung and Lee Se Jin (UEE). In addtition, the main male character of the drama, Park Gun Woo, was also not portrayed well.
The bad plot development made ‘Night Life”s rating stuck. After its first episode, the rating of the drama kept decreasing, until it reached the lowest Monday-Tuesday drama slot with only 3,1%. The 6,6% rating on the first episode was the drama’s highest rating, ever.
Replacing ‘Night Life’, ‘Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People’ will start airing on January 30st.
