The Competition between Wednesday-Thursday Drama ‘Saimdang, Light’s Diary’, ‘Chief Kim’, and ‘Missing 9’
This week, ‘Saimdang, Light’s Diary’ has officially entered the competition of Wednesday-Thursday drama slot.
SBS drama ‘The Legend of The Blue Sea’, which ended in January 25th, was replaced by a colossal time slip fusion drama ‘Saimdang, Light’s Diary’ starting from January 26th.
Colossal drama ‘Jewel in the Palace’ hallyu star, Lee You Ae, would make a comeback in the glass screen after 13 years. She will portray 2 characters at the same time, a Korean art history teacher Seo Ji Yoon, and Saimdang. This drama received 20 billion won investment after the script was written in 2014.
SBS aired two consecutive episodes of Saimdang on its premiere day, January 26th.
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV drama ‘Oh My Geum Bi’ was replaced by a comedy drama with a touch of social commentary ‘Chief Kim’, which was premiered on January 25th.
Nam Goong Min, who achieved success through ‘Remember’ and ‘Beautiful Gong Shim’ is playing the role of Kim Sung Ryong, someone who’s gifted in managing money. On the othe hand, Nam Sang Mi is playing the role of an employer who is fighting for the rights of a labor named Yoon Ha Kyung.
‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo’’s replacement, ‘Missing 9’, has already started ahead last January 18th, telling the mysterious tale of 9 people who survived a plane accident and had to live in an uninhabited island. Because this drama is the debut drama from an EXO’s member, Chanyeol, ‘Missing 9’ receives a lot of public attention. The first episode scored 6,5% rating and the second episode scored 5,8%, making it ranked second.
Lee Young Ae’s comeback in television drama after 13 years also added viewer’s high expectation. SBS consistently promotes its drama to catch people’s attention, just like what the channel did with ‘The Legend of The Blue Sea and others. Will ‘Saimdang’ achieve the same success for fans who have been anticipating for it?
