Just like the meaning of his name, Gong Yoo now stands as one of the best actors in Korea.

tvN’s drama, “Goblin”, set a new record by exceeding 20% rating in its last episode.

His popularity skyrocketed. Gong Yoo, who played as the Goblin, successfully steals the fans’ hearts.

Just like Gong Yoo, there are other actors who created a syndrome because of their popularity, such as Hyun Bin in “Secret Garden”, and Song Joong Ki in “Descendants of the Sun”.

However, what is unique about Gong Yoo’s syndrome is that he is able to popularize three of his works, including his drama and his movies. If compared to Hyun Bin and Soong Joong Ki who aren’t that strong in the movie industry, Gong Yoo started his influence through his movie last year.

“Train to Busan”, one of Gong Yoo’s movies, got 10 millions of viewers last year.

Even though some big stars declined to appear in “Train to Busan”, the movie got more than 11 millions of viewers and secured it as the best movie in 2016.

Gong Yoo also starred in “The Age of Shadows” along with Song Kang Ho.

Gong Yoo finally returned to the drama industry after his last appearance in “Big” 4 years ago. He made a comeback through “Goblin” which hit a big success and replaced his previous masterpiece, “Coffee Prince”.

The fans have been eagerly waiting for him to make an appearance again. It is also rumored that Gong Yoo is the first target to be scouted for upcoming dramas and movies in 2017. Surely Gong Yoo would pick his upcoming works carefully just like how he chose “Silenced”, “Train to Busan”, and “Goblin”.
