‘Fight for My Way’ Choi Ae Ra: Not a Damsel in Distress
Actress Kim Ji Won shows her solid acting through her latest drama.
In KBS 2TV’s ‘Fight for My Way’, Kim Ji Won plays as Choi Ae Ra, a woman who wants to be a news anchor but only works at a mall’s information center. In one episode, Ae Ra called herself, “I am a fool,”. To Dong Man, she also said, “I’m just a country girl who likes to imagine things. I’m not cool. So do not touch me,” with a puzzling expression on her face. Ae Ra was drawing a line between her and Dong Man.
However, viewers could see clearly that Ae Ra is not an unusual female lead: She is not a woman who depends her life on a man, even though Ae Ra still wants to be with someone who can protect her. Ae Ra even gave money to her ex-boyfriend. To Park Hye Ran, Dong Man’s ex-girlfriend, Ae Ra said, “I will date Go Dong Man. If you still want him, fight me first, then go away!”
On another side, Ae Ra is also a dreamer. Even though she keeps getting rejection over more rejection, Ae Ra keeps trying. Her willingness to keep fighting for her life is very apparent. Thus, rather than seeing it as Ae Ra’s weakness that needs to be protected, Dong Man is fond of her because he wants to make Ae Ra and her dreams safe.
The 5th episode of ‘Fight for My Way’ airs tonight, June 5, at 10PM.
