L’s Sad Confession in ‘Ruler: Master of the Mask’ Brings Tears to Everyone
The honest and sad confession of L in ‘Ruler: Master of the Mask’ made the audience cry too.
In episode 23 and 24 of MBC’s Wednesday-Thursday drama, ‘Ruler: Master of the Mask’ (15/6), Lee Sun (L) who considers himself dead will finally express his love for Ga Eun (Kim So Hyun).
Ga Eun did not know at all that in the bamboo tube she stole on Queen’s order there was an opium pill that would cause Lee Sun to die if she did not drink it. As Lee Sun’s condition deteriorates, Crown Prince Sun (Yoo Seung Ho) comes to Greenhouse. He is very surprised to find Lee Sun is in a condition between life and death. “Why are you coming now ?!” Lee Sun shouted. “During this, even a day I cannot live peacefully because of Dae Mok pills. What if Dae Mok did not send the pills? What if I’m late drinking it? Will I just die ?!” Lee Sun cried out.
Then Lee Sun said, “It’s all because of you! All the fears that haunt me for fear of being killed, I who cannot live quietly for being a puppet king, all this because of you!”, after that, Lee Sun fell and lost his consciousness.
Upon waking, Lee Sun realizes that Ga Eun sits outside his mosquito net. Lee Sun reaches out to grab Ga Eun’s hand. Looking at Lee Sun’s hand holding his wrist, Ga Eun is shocked to realize that Lee Sun’s condition is similar to the symptoms she saw in Yang, a child who recently died of poisoning. “My time is running out too soon. May I say one thing to you?” said Lee Sun. “I love you,” he revealed to Ga Eun.
Ga Eun is shocked and then said that she cannot accept his feelings, who then asks if Ga Eun has someone else she loves. Ga Eun replied with a “no” again when she was asked if the person was Lee Sun (Yoo Seung Ho). “Why would you prefer him than the King like me? Isn’t an honorable woman like you better suited with a King?” Ga Eun just replied,” Young Master and I … We have the same dream. That’s enough for me”.
Hearing the words of Ga Eun, Lee Sun said, “I also want to live differently. I also want to have a dream. If I had the courage, I would have told my dream to everyone. If it were like that … Will the situation change? If I knew that I was going to die so soon, I should have expressed my feelings for a long time”, Lee Sun said with tears in his eyes.
Lee Sun’s words that he said to Ga Eun in his critical condition also hurt the audience’s feelings.
