Ji Chang Wook Talks About Shooting ‘Suspicious Partner’
“While filming ‘Suspicious Partner’, I always imagine as if I really had a girlfriend. I always do this with my work.”
Ji Chang Wook was recently asked whether he felt nervous or fluttered when he was filming ‘Suspicious Partner’ as No Ji Wook.
‘Suspicious Partner’ is Ji Chang Wook’s first romantic comedy drama, in which he acted alongside Nam Ji Hyun, who portrayed Eun Bong Hee. The drama becomes a hallmark of his stable acting skills.
Ji Chang Wook, who has always been a strong character, turned out to be a gentle person in this drama. If you see the scenes in which the main characters have crucial situations, the audience will be impressed. Especially, in the first kiss scene where Noh Ji Wook and Eun Bong Hee expressed their love, their emotions and chemistry made the scene a hot topic among fans.
Ji Chang Wook held an interview at a restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul on July 18th, after completing the drama. He said, “‘Suspicious Partner’ is a meaningful work for me. This is my first romantic comedy and it is my final work before entering military service. I feel happy and sad at the same time,”
Due to this drama, Ji Chang Wook is now called the ‘Romantic Comedy Master’ and ‘Master of Kissing’. “I’m a little bit embarrassed about that,” Ji Chang Wook confessed. “I tried my best to convey the emotions well, but I believe I have to thank the director because he made me act the romantic scenes smoothly. It wasn’t easy to be expressed, to be honest. To express a gentle feeling of loving someone is not as easy as it sounds.”
“I had a lot of romantic scenes, for example, scenes where Bong Hee and I had a date. To do those scenes well, I imagined what would actually occur in real situation. As there are so many fans who were expecting ‘something’ from that scene, I thought that ‘something’ should not be mediocre, so I tried to explore myself further, I tried to read the manuscript carefully, even though I felt sleepy.”
Ji Chang Wook also talked about his co-star, Nam Ji Hyun. He said, “Even though I’m old enough, I felt nervous acting with Ji Hyun. Thankfully, she could accept me well. I could play and laugh, so I feel comfortable playing in a rom-com drama. I did not feel awkward at all. I tried to make the atmosphere as comfortable as possible, and the actors and staffs work together in tandem. We always did the shooting in a friendly and funny atmosphere.”
