Webtoon ‘Dream Cide’ Will be Remade into a Huge Scale Drama
The famous webtoon ‘Dream Cide’ will be remade into a drama. On July 31st, Monster Union revealed that “Dream Cide” will be remade in collaboration with the best VFX studios, Dexter Studio.
‘Dream Cide’, a webtoon that is highly popular in Korea’s leading mobile content platform Kakao, is made by Hong Jung Hoon, a high school student who has spent 7 years to draw a webtoon of a hero who will change the future of zombies.
At the time when the series was first released, the author was highly criticized for drawing such horrifying figures of human, even more horrifying than the zombies in the story. However, the story has since then become popular, and with a strong story of love, friendship, and humanism, ‘Dream Cide’ is expected to be a hit drama, as the webtoon itself has attracted around 1.4 million subscribers.
‘Dreamside’ will begin its pre-production in the second half of this year, and start shooting in early 2018, aiming for broadcast in the second half of 2018. The production team from the original webtoon team have also joined the project, and with the huge scale of production, similar to ‘Descendants of the Sun’, the team behind ‘Dream Cide’ is optimistic that this means a new birth of another mega-Korean drama. The investment was made through KBS-KDB Korean Wave Content Fund, a private equity fund (PEF), which is the first Korean cultural content, through ViceTs, a subsidiary studio.
