‘Saimdang’ Gains 170 Millions Profit Outside Korea
The popularity of Lee Young Ae and Song Seung Heon cannot be doubted again.
SBS’ Wed-Thu drama, ‘Saimdang Light’s Diary’, starring Lee Young Ae and Song Seung Heon finally gains a profit even though it needs to face a difficult regulation regarding Hallyu industry in China.
Although the drama is not that successful in the country, ‘Saimdang’ does receive a good response from the overseas viewers and even tops the ranking.
The return of Lee Young Ae who last appeared in ‘A Jewel in the Palace’ 12 years ago and the popularity of Song Seung Heon as a Hallyu star are able to attract the attention of the international fans.
On May 3, according to the production team, ‘Saimdang’ has gained a profit up to 150 million USD (approx. 170 million won) from the international market. This drama is exported to 7 different countries in Southeast Asia, including China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and more.
