The film itself is set during the Japan colonial period in Korea, and tells the story of forced laborers who risked their lives to flee from Hashima Island, Japan.

‘Battleship Island’ is a reflection the hidden history tale of Korean forced laborers who were buried in that island. Starring actors Hwang Jung Min, So Ji Sub, Song Joong Ki, and Lee Jung Hyun, this movie is one of the most awaited movies in 2017.



The poster was released with the inscription “1945, Japan Colonial Era. We called it the island of hell.”, demonstrating the ‘Once you are trapped in this island, you will never get out of this hell’ kind of feeling, making the hearts of the beholders feel threatened.

In this film, Hwang Jung Min plays the character of Lee Kang Ok, who was lured by an offer to go to Japan for his daughter and himself. So Ji Sub plays Choi Chil Sung, Kyungsung’s best fighter, while Song Joong Ki plays Park Moo Young, a member of Korean independence party. Lee Jung Hyun plays the role of Mal Nyeon, a Korean woman who was forced to go to Hashima. The actors are guaranteed to display a different kind of acting in ‘Battleship Island’, making Korean public impatient to watch the movie.
