Chile’s Local Newspaper Feature News about BTS’ Article in New York Times Magazine
It’s not a secret that Chile is BTS’s main South American fanbase.
Recently, a Chilean daily newspaper discusses an article about BTS that was published in New York Times Magazine. The news was put on the main page of ‘Publimetro’.
The Chilean newspaper put the article on its headline as the article talks about ‘Reasons Why K-POP Group Could be Easily Accepted in South America’. It was mentioned that among all famous K-POP groups, BTS is the one that is most popular in South America (especially Chile).
This was also not without reasons. According to New York Times Magazine, BTS’ name started to rise to popularity after a local K-POP radio channel played their songs over and over again. Even without the help of a promotor, BTS successfully gained a stable and promising fanbase in the country.
In addition, BTS often use their official SNS to directly communicate with fans. This is one of the biggest reasons why they have so many ARMYs in South America. Chilean local fans also contributed to the fandom by translating news about BTS so that Chilean teenagers (as well as other South American teenagers) could get to know more about their idols.
At the moment, BTS is being nominated in ‘Billboard Awards 2017’, which will be held in May 24. It has not been confirmed whether the group will actually attend the event or not.
