‘Ruler’ #1: Introducing Lee Seon, The Masked Crown Prince
In the first episode of new Wednesday-Thursday drama show from MBC ‘Ruler – Master of the Mask’, Han Ga Eun (Kim So Hyun) meets the crown prince Lee Seon (Yoo Seung Ho) for the first time.
In the beginning of the episode, it was revealed that the father of Crown Prince Lee Sun, King Geumnyeong, asked for help from the dark organization, Pyeong Soo Hoe, to become a king. As the consequence, King Geumnyeong became the Pyeong Soo Hoe’s puppet and cannot perform his role as the king rightfully.
Pyeon Soo Hoe is targeting the life of Lee Sun’s crown prince, this is because Pyeon Soo Hoe wants to make the doll king go crazy. The King wants to protect Crown Prince, thus, Since birth, Crown Prince Lee Sun grew up always wearing mask.
10 years later, the crown prince Lee Sun, who did not know the situation started questioning the reason to why he always has to wear mask. However, Lee Sun also can not release the mask as he pleased.
Even so, Lee Sun managed to escape from the palace without using a mask. He changed his clothes into a layman’s clothes. Lee Sun, who came out of the palace, realized the fact that for his people, water is more precious (yet more rare) than rice. This is because Pyeong Soo Hoe, the organization, has full authority of the water supply and monetize it.
Lee Seon meets Lee Sun, a guy with the same name as him, who is from the lower class, a young man who works for Pyeong Soo Hee. A fight occurred after the Crown Prince gives water to a small child from Pyeong Soo He’s well. Jo Tae Ho tried to catch Lee Sun after people started a riot. Lee Sun escapes because of this, and while running away, he meets Han Ga Eun.
A meeting determined by fate between the protagonists has occurred. Crown Prince Lee Sun, who has to live by using a mask, accidentally meets Han Ga Eun. What will become of their relationship in the future?
