So Ji Sub Appears as ‘The Real Man’ Choi Chil Sung in ‘Battleship Island’
On June 15th, ‘Battleship Island’ held a press conference.
This film tells the story of Koreans who risked their lives by trying to escape from a Japanese war ship during the Japanese Colonialism. In the film, So Ji Sub plays as Choi Chil Sung, the best street fighter from Kyungsung.
So Ji Sub introduced his character in this movie as someone who “… has a hard temper, but he’s also a hard worker and a true man. If people do not know what a real man looks like, Choi Chil Sung is the perfect example.”
The MC then asked, “Is his character the same as your own character?”, and the actor answered, “I don’t really have the same temper or work ethic, but I could call myself a real man.”
So Ji Sub then added, “Before I received the offer, I had been wanting to work with director Roo Seung Wan for the longest time, I’m not lying. However, when it finally happened, I felt a heavy burden. I was afraid that I could not portray the character as it should be. Thankfully, I got a lot of help from the director, so I could finish the filming well.”
