EXO’s Suho & Kai, Red Velvet’s Joy: SM Idols who are Starring in a Drama
SM Entertainment’s idols are starting to dominate quite a lot of dramas these days. They are starring as the main characters of dramas with unique plot lines, such as a love story which transcends time and space, also a remake of old drama, which successfully raises public’s curiosity.
The idols are EXO’s Suho and Kai, and Red Velvet’s Joy. Both EXO and Red Velvet are the representative groups of SM, and they already have a huge fanbase of Korean and international fans. This year, however, they will be able to meet fans through different dramas.
EXO’s Suho is starring in MBC’s trilogy drama ‘Three Colors Fantasy – The Universe’s Star’ as the male main character. This drama is a 100% pre-production collaboration project between MBC and Naver, and is currently being broadcasted on MBC starting from January 26th after being broadcasted in Naver.
‘The Universe’s Star’ is a fantasy romance drama about a top singer and his fans. Suho plays the role of Woo Joo, a top star, meanwhile actress Ji Woo plays his love interest, Byul.
Playing the role of a top star is considered as the right move on Suho’s part. Other than being the leader of EXO, Suho also has increased the public’s immersion in the drama by singing and playing piano.
EXO’s Kai, Suho’s group mate, is also recently cast as the male main character in KBS drama ‘Andante’. Previously, he has starred in ‘EXO Next Door’ and ‘Choco Bank’. ‘Andante’ is a drama about a character named Shi Kyung, a 18 years old guy who moves to a village and then realizes the meaning of love and life.
Meanwhile, Red Velvet’s Joy, who just had a comeback with RV’s new album, ‘Rookie’, was cast in tvN’s drama ‘She Loves to Lie’. As this will be Joy’s first acting gig, news about her getting the main role surprised a lot of fans but also made them anticipate this drama even more.
‘She Loves to Lie’ revolves around the romance between a composer named Kang Han Kyul and a woman who has a beautiful voice, Yoon So Rim. Lee Hyun Woo will portray Kang Han Kyul’s character while Yoon So Rim will be portrayed by Joy.
