‘Voice’ and ‘Tunnel’, OCN’s Successful 2017 Dramas

OCN is currently at its peak. Two of the channel’s 2017 dramas are gaining huge success.

In the beginning of the year, OCN attracted a lot of viewers through ‘Voice’, a mystery thriller drama revolving around the pursuit of a serial killer starred by Jang Hyuk, Kim Jae Wook, Lee Ha Na, and Baek Sung Hyun.

Korean public favored ‘Voice’ for its intense plot and the actors’ acting quality.

After ‘Voice’ ended, OCN filled the time slot with ‘Tunnel’, which had its premiere on March 25. ‘Tunnel’ is another mystery thriller detective drama with similar plot: The revelation of a serial murder case which has lasted for 30 years. In ‘Tunnel’, detective Park Gwang Ho (Choi Jin Wook), who actually lives in 1988, time travels to 2017 through a tunnel in order to catch the culprit. The detective is helped by another detective, Kim Sun Jae (Yoon Hyun Min), and a crime psychologist, Shin Jae Yi (Lee Yoo Young) to solve this case.

With only two episodes aired, ‘Tunnel’ managed to score 3% rating, which is a great accomplishment for a cable tv drama. The rating is expected to increase as there are still a lot of episodes left.

OCN is well-known for not succumbing to trend with their dramas. Some of the channel’s previous successful dramas include ‘Vampire Prosecutor’, ‘Bad Guy’, and ’38 Task Force’. A drama’s popularity, especially a cable tv drama, is unpredictable. Unexpectedly, OCN is doing well this year with its two dramas, ‘Voice’ and ‘Tunnel’.
