Gong Yoo won ‘Best Actor in Drama TV’ Category in Baeksang Art Award
Gong Yoo won the ‘Best Actor in Drama TV’ category in the 53th Baeksang Art Award, which was held yesterday evening at COEX Hall D, Seoul. Gong Yoo defeated other top drama actors who were also nominated in the category, which were Namgung Min, Park Bo Gum, Jo Jung Suk, and Han Suk Kyu.
In his acceptance speech, Gong Yoo said, “Several months ago, I came before you as a lonely Deity, but now I stand in front of you all as a humbled man. I want to thank writer Kim Eun Sook, who had been very attentive since the beginning, and director Lee Eung Book who had helped me a lot in portraying my character, Kim Shin. Also, I want to thank Eun Tak, who had always given her love for the lonely Kim Shin.”
Gong Yoo then quoted a famous line from ‘Goblin’ and frankly talked about the feeling of burden that he’s currently bearing after several successful works.
“All of the time that I spent with them were always good. Honestly, being in this position, winning this award, is a little scary for me, though I also still don’t know why. Last year, I took a lot of projects. I’ve had a forbidden relationship with a woman, I’ve become a zombie, I’ve also sacrificed myself to save my country. These days I’m confused about what kind of work that I should take next, and something like this might not happen again to me in the future, so, I really-really appreciate it. Thank you so much to all of the people who have been loving ‘Goblin’.”
Baeksang Art Award is the most prestigious awarding event for television drama and film in South Korean’s entertainment industry.
Congratulations for the win, Gong Yoo!
