‘Chicago’ Yoo Ah In and ‘Man to Man’ Park Hae Jin, Still Cannot Unleash Their Star Power

The return of the big stars, Yoo Ah In and Park Hae Jin, distracts the audience.

Currently, tvN’s ‘Chicago Typewriter’ and JTBC ‘Man to Man’ are setting the record below their expectations. Although these dramas are made by the famous authors and casts, the audience’s response is still below average.

‘Chicago Typewriter’ is a romantic fantasy drama telling the reincarnation of three figures in the 1930s who becomes a famous writer, a ghostwriter who hides behind this famous writer, and a woman who becomes an anti-fan of the writer. The news of Yoo Ah In, Im Soo Jung, and Go Kyung Pyo playing in this drama has become a hot topic even before this drama started airing. Moreover, ‘Chicago Typewriter’ is written by a successful screenwriter, Jin Soo Wan, who once wrote MBC ‘The Moon Embracing The Sun’ (2012) and ‘Kill Me, Heal Me’ (2015).

The 2nd generation of tvN’s ‘Goblin’ replacement has to accept the bitter reality.

‘Man to Man’ also experienced the same situation. The drama tells the story of a ghost agent, Kim Sul Woo (Park Hae Jin), who becomes a bodyguard of a Hallyu star named Yeo Woon Gwang (Park Sung Woong). The main role is played by Park Hae Jin who successfully starred in SBS drama ‘My Love From the Star’ (2013). The script was written by screenwriter Kim Won Suk who once worked with writer Kim Eun Sook in making KBS 2TV drama ‘Descendant of the Sun’ (2016).

He is an actor who can bring all of his works into a success. The public was shocked by the Yoo Ah In’s decision to appear in the drama ‘Chicago Typewriter’ and postponed his military service.

Park Hae Jin is also the same. He achieved success through various roles, from his appearance in ‘My Love From the Star’, OCN ‘Bad Guys’ (2014) as Lee Jung Moon, to ‘Cheese in the Trap’ as Yoo Sung. But ‘Man to Man’ seems to be a different case for him.

Of course, there is still time to change the public response. ‘Chicago Typewriter’ still has 8 more episodes before it ends. The mystery behind Yoo Jin Oh (Go Kyung Pyo) and the relationship between the characters still become the main focus of the drama. Then, ‘Man to Man’ also has just released the fifth episode on May 5 from a total of 16 episodes. There are still many stories to be presented and the journey is still long. Will Yoo Ah In and Park Hae Jin be able to change public response on this remaining opportunity?
