Will BTS Make an English Song Following the Group’s Rising Popularity in America?
On May 29 at 11:00 am, BTS held a press conference at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. They expressed their opinion about the ‘Top Social Artists’ award that they got recently on ‘2017 Billboard Music Awards’. This is the second time for Korean singers to receive the Billboard award. Previously, Psy won the ‘Top Streaming Song’ category with ‘Gangnam Style’ in 2013.
After showing their trophy, BTS said, “We were very nervous before our group got called. We wee delighted to see many pop stars on stage.”
Jimin said, “Rap Monster said the speech in English first. Then when he said it in Korean I wanted to add some things, but unfortunately, I could not do it due to the time limit. If there is another chance, I want to say thanks with a Korean song.”
Other members said, “The ‘Top Social Artists’ award is made possible by fans. With respect, I thank Army all over the world. I also think we could got this award because of seniors who have paved the way for K-POP. We will also continue to work for our juniors in the future.”
BTS said that continuing to communicate with fans through SNS is the secret of their success.
Asked whether they will release an English song following their rising fame in America, BTS said, “Because we are Korean singers, we will continue to sing in Korean language,”
