‘Battleship Island’ is a film depicting the story of Korean people trying to escape a warship during the Japanese colonial period. Ryoo Seung Wan’s previous movie, ‘Veteran’, was watched by over 13 million people by putting together brilliant players, which makes people excited to see ‘Battleship Island’ as it also has an amazing string of players.

Director Ryoo Seung Wan said that the size of the ship used for filming is 2/3 of the original ship. “The scenes in the warship have to illustrate the real situation that happened. I want the actors to feel like they’re in a real battleship, so the movie does not look fake.”

Ryoo Seung Wan added, “It is impossible to have these very valuable actors acting using a blue screen, that would be such a waste. Many people challenged me to make a Korean movie with maximum effort and quality, that’s why I went as far as making the set almost as big as the real one. I think I did great.”

‘Battleship Island’ will be released in July 2017.
