After ‘Criminal Minds’, tvN Will Remake a Japanese Drama, ‘Mother’
After an American series, now a Japanese drama. After ‘Criminal Mind’, now we will have the Korean version of ‘Mother’. On July 26th, ‘Criminal Mind’ has been aired. ‘Criminal Mind’ is a remake of the same title, and reflects the crime and problems that sentiment in Korea.
It has been long since the original drama is loved by the fans, which makes it quite a burden for the remake. Yang Yoon Ho as the PD of ‘Criminal Mind’ said, “When I was first invited to make this drama, I thought maybe this would be something interesting but I also feel that it will be a burden in itself,”
‘Criminal Mind’ is highly anticipated, but audience reactions were vary. Many viewers said their directions, CG, consistency, and atmosphere were not what they want. There were also good reviews for actors and actresses, thanks to their acting skills.
There is a tendency to dramatize and film webtoon or fiction, but recreating dramas or movies that have been aired is not easy. There is a risk of comparing objects and how well the emotions of each version will be shown. Do not let the perception that remake will not be better than the original work influences your decision. Remakes are supposed to be something better or the least balanced.
In addition to the drama, tvN will make other remakes. After confirming Lee Bo Young as one of the casts of ‘Mother’, tvN is currently coordinating with various parties. In its original work, ‘Mother’ tells the story of the woman who kidnapped a child being tortured, and she decided to be the mother of the child. This ‘Mother’ drama earned a good reputation as a good work in Japan.
Previously, tvN has shown successful and failed remakes like ‘Good Wife’ and ‘Entourage’. ‘Good Wife’ is adapted from Korean sentiment, and is a well-made remake. While ‘Entourage’ has lost the colored atmosphere and is considered worse.
