New York Times Magazine Discusses BTS’ Popularity in South America
The New York Times Magazine said that BTS has a great influence and popularity in South America. One of the online articles published in New York Times Magazine on May 7 is titled ‘What Does It Take for a K-Pop Band to Blow Up in South America?’, which analyzes the popularity of BTS in Chile in various aspects including culture and economy.
New York Times wrote, “Even though K-Pop has spread all around the globe, but Chile is the country which most represent it.” The article mentioned a Chilean morning news program that covered the news about BTS’ arrival and showed the fans who waited for them at the airport while crying.
Through their SNS, BTS builds an active communication with their fans. They also launched a K-Pop program on a Chile radio. The fans analyzed BTS popularity in details, which also include the volunteers who willingly translated the articles about the group and shared the information with other fans.
New York Times Magazine also shows its interest in BTS career development. “The second album, ‘WINGS’, becomes the best-selling album in Korea. BTS’ fans all around the world seem to show a great sympathy toward their music, vocal, and messages which the group wants to convey”.
